Lyca + Jiwi | Pololu Valley Adventure Engagement Session on the Big Island, HAWAII
I had the absolute honor of capturing Lyca and Jiwi’s engagement session at Pololu Valley in Hawaii. The two of them were total naturals in front of the camera and I had such a great time watching them play and connect during the shoot.
Engagements are all about new beginnings, so you’ll want to pick a location that exemplifies your couple’s current stage of life. While an exotic beach location is probably ideal for most, it doesn’t make sense for everyone. If your significant other was born and raised on a farm, maybe an engagement session at his or her parents’ house makes more sense. You don’t want to create false expectations; it should feel like home for both of you. Lyca actually used to live on Oahu for years, so it made sense to them to leave Vegas and celebrate their engagement in a place that feels like home.
It’s important to pick a photographer who will help you have an engagement photoshoot that reflects your relationship. The best way to do that is to ask for references and research those photographers. We were all coming from Kona that day, and it was *pouring*. Throughout the drive I kept hoping that the weather up in Hawi was a little kinder to us. And although it was a tad windy and overcast, at least it wasn’t raining!
Since this will be one of the most important days of their lives, I want to wish them luck and congratulate them on their upcoming adventure! I hope you enjoy these stunning photos as much as we do. 🙂
Amazing + Fun + Relaxing
I don’t even know where to begin how incredible Bea is. I had sent Bea a handful of vision board for our engagement shoot and let me tell you, she delivered more than my fiance and I could ever imagine. She went above and beyond from answering all my questions to advising what outfits to wear. During the shoot she made us comfortable, had so much fun , and was able to capture the most genuine emotion/laugh that you could feel by just looking at the pictures.
