LGBT wedding Elopement Adventure Mauna Kea on the Big Island
First of all, Inclusion is SO important to me. So I was over the moon when Amanda and Marlene inquired with me in 2020 to capture their elopement. I am an avid ally of the LGBTQA+ community and it makes me so happy when clients come forward and admit they contacted me because they felt comfortable doing so. Their LGBT wedding was one for the books!

The first thing they discussed was the fact that they are both very adventurous and wanted a ceremony like no other. What is more unique than getting married on top of a snow-capped mountain? Fun Fact, if you could the below ocean base, Mauna Kea is actually the tallest mountain in the world, yes, taller than Everest!
We met up at the bottom of Mauna Kea and slowly drove up together. Making sure to stop every so often to acclimate to the huge altitude incline. We spent a total of four hours together, going from huge pines to volcanic, very Jurassic-like scenery, to somewhere that looked like Mars. To finally have them exchange their vows in the snow, on top of the world. We were prepped for the change in weather too, making sure to pack added warm clothes, blankets, and hats. IT WAS PERFECT.

Better late than never- my review is a little late and I rarely take the time to leave them, but I had to for Bea! Having had a few other photo shoots in my life, this was by far the most fun! Bea made us comfortable even though we felt awkward in front of the camera – she helped us loosen up! She knows exactly how to get the best shots, chose great spots with the best scenery and we truly enjoyed her company. Thank you Bea! If anyone is deciding on an elopement photographer, this is your gal!
